ICE HOUSE

This warehouse was, in it's inception, used as an ice house. Workers would bring ice from the river and other icy places, like mountains, probably, and they would store it in this 5000 sq ft warehouse-right up to the ceiling. They would chip of a block for grandma and deliver it to her ice box! This is pre-fridge, people! wow.......

Well now it's 2010 and the space finds itself useful to a different type of labor. Portland Garment Factory is excited to bring a fresh tenancy to the space. We will be moving in, painting and feng shui-ing it up in late October.

We will be offering a limited number of work spaces for rent (sizes are negotiable). Email me if you are interested!

Smooth MOVE

Imagine a roll top garage style door widening itself open for your pallets of fabric and calling to you...more space, more space, more space! The warehouse is to PGF what the bigger house is to a growing family; a necessary change in layout.

You can imagine PGF as a pregnant lady ready to pop one, no make it twins out.

I prefer to think of it like that since I feel it was a baby, I nurtured it and it grew up to be a strong level headed (and fashionable!) lady....who is pregnant.....and now I am about to be a grandma!

What does it all mean to you? Our darling little ranch for two, where we honeymooned and honed a plan for the future, is for lease!

Uh..News Flash Everyone!

UPDATE!

In mid July we had to make an over night decision to do away with the retail/boutique side of Portland Garment Factory in order to make room for the ever bustling (and now bubbling over) factory. Although sad to say goodbye to the retail end of things, we are proud to be equipped with even more machines and capable of more than ever!

We are just busier than bees at a honey convention.......but as always, call us if you need anything because we got your back!

June First Friday: Sibling Involved

On June 4th from 6pm-11pm, PGF will be transformed from it's daily hummmming operation to an rotary of sound and of droned-out, desolate landscapes. 

Survey works on paper by Wynde Dyer.... with minimal palette, she interprets haunting, sparse portraits of unfamiliar (yet recognizable) places. Accompany that with the droning (or droll) sound works by my adored brother, Branic Howard, (who is home from his NY grad school studies for the summer). Add yourself-dressed in landscape inspired clothing- ....textures, neutrals (or color if you see fit), nods to architecture..... 
and you have yourself PGF's most inspired and exciting intro to summer art party yet! 
Come and make friends with your landscape.......

ps we have tons of new clothing and this month the gallery is extended throughout the entire shop.... seriously not to be missed!
